The Expo City Dubai has introduced a transformative freelance permit designed to empower professionals across more than 90 industries.

This initiative enables freelancers to operate in the UAE or remotely from anywhere in the world, in alignment with Dubai's ambition to be a global hub for innovation and sustainable living.

The permit is priced competitively, with a one-year option available for Dh9,000 and a two-year option for Dh16,000. The streamlined process ensures residence visa issuance within three working days, providing unparalleled ease and flexibility for professionals.

How to apply for new permit

The application process is designed to be both simple and efficient.

Here's a step-by-step guide:

Submit Your Application: Log in to the Expo City Dubai Portal using provided credentials. Complete the application form and upload necessary documents, such as a passport copy, Emirates ID, and a professional portfolio or qualifications. A fee of Dh7,000, including a non-refundable Dh500 application charge, is required.

Approval by ECDA: The Expo City Dubai Authority (ECDA) reviews the application to ensure compliance with all requirements. This process is typically completed within five working days. Applicants may be requested to provide additional evidence, such as a detailed work portfolio, if needed.

Receive Your Permit and Visa: Once approved, the ECD Freelance Permit is issued, along with an optional company card for those requiring a UAE residence visa. The company card includes a visa quota and serves as proof of registration within Expo City Dubai.
